Valchiavenna, 10 July 2024 Montespluga Info Point Project - Summer 2024

AltaReziaNews writes about the new Infopoint inside the Homeland headquarters
The upper Spluga Valley, still partially covered in snow as evidence of a long winter, reopens its doors to international tourists with the return of the Info Point Montespluga project, now offering information services and training opportunities during the summer.

After almost twenty years from the first experiment dating back to the summers of 2005 and 2006, last weekend of 6 and 7 July, what can be defined as the furthest Info Point from the sea, located at 1908 meters above sea level, was reactivated interior of the Homeland Montespluga house, active during the winter period to promote skialp and splitboarding.

This summer project sees a joint commitment of the Valchiavenna Mountain Community, the Municipality of Madesimo and the Madesimo and Valchiavenna tourist consortia for the valorisation of Montespluga, promoting sustainable tourism that is attentive to climate change.
The president of the Valchiavenna Mountain Community, Davide Trussoni, underlined the importance of the Institution's commitment to managing the adaptation of climate change, highlighted by the signing of the charter in November 2022 which establishes its participation in the relevant Mission.

The Montespluga Info Point, strongly supported by the Municipality of Madesimo and financed by the Mountain Community of Valchiavenna, will be operational on the following weekends:
July 13-14, July 20-21, July 27-28, August 3-4, August 10-18, August 24-25, from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 17:00. During the week of August, the Info Point will be open continuously.

In addition to providing tourist information and reception services, the office will carry out statistical surveying and monitoring of tourist flows on the Spluga Pass, becoming a point of reference also for operators in the sector who have to manage a considerable flow of travellers.

Information about Valchiavenna will be available at the Info Point, with distribution of leaflets and brochures regarding accommodation facilities, excursions, parks, museums, events, restaurants and gastronomy.

The Councilor for Tourism of the Municipality of Madesimo, Alessandra Gazzoli, has announced the "Tracce a Montespluga" project for the summer of 2024, conceived by the artist Susanna Pozzoli, with ateliers open to the public led by Saul Caligari.

These exploratory meetings, which will be held on the following dates: Saturday 13 July, Saturday 10 August and Saturday 17 August from 9.30 to 12.30 and from 14.00 to 16.30, aim to help people rediscover the local flora, promoting respect and knowledge of nature.

Participation in the meetings requires a contribution of €10.00 and booking is mandatory at the Madesimo Tourist Consortium on +39 0343 53015 or by visiting the website www.madesimo.eu
